Our Story

An exploration in clay.

Hi, I’m Winnie, the founder of Eight Six Kollective.

I was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to the United States with my family at a young age. Growing up, I often felt caught between cultures, never fully feeling like I belonged in either world.

Over the years, I pursued many different careers. While each experience taught me something valuable, I was always searching for work that felt more creative, meaningful, and aligned with who I am.

That search led me to pottery.

What began as a chance introduction to wheel throwing quickly became something much deeper. Working with clay gave me a way to create with my hands, slow down, and connect with others through everyday objects made with intention.

The name Eight Six Kollective comes from my time bartending. In the service industry, to “eighty-six” something means to remove it. Over time, the phrase took on a personal meaning—a reminder to let go of the expectations, fears, and self-doubt that can keep us from becoming who we are meant to be.

That philosophy continues to shape both my work and my life.

Each piece is made in small batches and inspired by the quiet rituals of everyday living. My hope is to create ceramics that bring a sense of presence, connection, and intention to the moments that often matter most.

Thank you for being here and for supporting handmade work.
